Thanks to all the volunteers and riders for making a great success of our first evening TT of the season. Getting used to the Covid compliant protocols was always going to be a challenge, but things seem to have worked quite well. We look to make a few improvements as we go along to improve the experience for officials and competitors alike.
A fine night and favourable wind conditions meant we had a good turnout, with people desperate to race following a ‘lost season’ in 2020.
A total of 42 riders from 15 different clubs took part including 8 riders from Southport CC. There were a number of riders from no club who were having a ‘Try Out’ ride. They are able to ride up to 3 events under the ‘TRY OUT’ rules, and hopefully they will be persuaded to join a club – Preferably SCC
Fastest time – with a massive PB of 20.46 was former SCC Junior rider Conor McKinnon – now riding as an Espoir for the Dolan Ellesse Racing Team. He was almost a minute quicker than the second placed rider.
Fastest SCC rider was Karl Addison with a 22.30, but special mention is due to new member Jeff Caunce – riding his first TT – for a time of 23.19 on a road bike with ‘clip on’s’.

We received a lot of very positive feedback from members of other clubs, who were so grateful that we were able to promote the event. It bodes well for the success of the rest of the seasons events.
