A cold and showery evening meant that only 21 brave (or very foolish) souls entered the event. A very heavy shower just as riders were making their way to the start gave the roads and riders a good soaking, and at least one rider took the sensible decision not to start. Thankfully the wind was relatively light, so some decent times were recorded – especially considering that riders needed to ‘tiptoe’ round the 3 x 180 degree turns at the roundabouts.
Fastest ride of the night was by James Duffy of Bury Clarion with a 21.18, with Jeff Caunce being the quickest SCC rider with a 23.14.
Many thanks to all of the officials and marshals, who had to endure some pretty miserable conditions to ensure the event ran fairly smoothly (hiccup with numbers notwithstanding).
Thanks to Roy Nield and Karen Bailey of East Lancs RC for offering to marshal. They are both regular competitors in events over many years and appreciate the efforts of the SCC volunteers in promoting these events.
