I don’t know if we’ve still got any Youth riders (12-17) who’ve not been snaffled by ‘sponsored’ teams – but this may be of interest to them. It’s a qualifying event for the National Youth championship to be held in September.
NATIONAL YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP
The National Youth Championship (NYC) will take be held again this year in its normal format. The NYC is as the name implies, a national competition for any juvenile ride with awards for both overall boy and girl and also in age categories. Juvenile riders aged 12 and above and who are under 17 on 31st August 2021 are eligible to compete.
The Liverpool District Championship will be a 10 mile event taking place on Saturday 19th June and will be again be promoted by the Mid Shropshire Wheelers on course D10/23r at Waters Upton in Shropshire. Overall and age category qualifiers gain automatic entry to the National Final which is being promoted this year by Race Rapid of the Midland District at Mallory Park motor racing circuit on Saturday 4th September.
The Liverpool District Committee is keen to encourage our juvenile riders to participate in the Championship so I am writing to all CTT Members in the District to ask you consider taking part if you are eligible or if not, to bring this to the attention of any juvenile rider who may be interested. Our young riders are the future of the sport and this is a great way of getting experience of national level competition which hopefully will further encourage interest in time trialling.
