High winds during the day and the threat of cancellation due to heavy Flower Show traffic kept rider numbers down. As it turned out, traffic was only slightly heavier than normal which bodes well for evening TT’s clashing with future ‘events’ in Southport. The breeze dropped significantly after the riders started, and riders were rewarded with decent conditions (though not as good as th epast couple of weeks). Even so this did not seem to affect Phil Jones of Transition RT who blitzed the course with a new Course Record time of 19.44 despite being baulked by traffic at one of the roundabouts.
Thanks to all the marshals – especially to Roy Nield and Karen Bailey of Lancs RC / E Lancs RC who deputised for Jim and Irene as Pusher Off and Starter
Next week ( 22nd) we will be hosting Bury Clarion’s annual 10 mile Handicap, within our event. They anticipate in excess of 20 riders plus Marshals will be coming over for that one.
