The downhill or freewheeling competition is one of the most fiercely competitive events in the Club calendar. This years event lived up to expectations with a large group (nearly 20 riders) making the journey to the usual venue near Bleasedale.
Peter Leonard assumed his customary role as not pusher off and the competitors adopted a variety of strategies and riding positions to attempt maximise their distance. However all their efforts were in vain once the undoubted master of the downhill took the start.
Eddie sped downhill and then drifted effortlessly uphill defying gravity to win by a clear margin.
So once again for the fourteenth time we offer congratulations to The Club Downhill Champion, Eddie O’Brien.
