On a day of extremely unsettled weather Southport’s Andy Bristow completed his tour of the UK, Europe and Africa finishing his ride where he started it – in Southport at the Atkinson Building.
After starting in Southport he reached his furthest point in Cape Town covering more then more than 9000 miles in aid of the charities Water Aid and the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
Not one to take it easy, on completing his adventure at Cape Town Andy flew back to Britain arriving at Heathrow from where cycled the length of the county arriving at Crosby.
From Crosby he was congratulated on his journey and presented with a club jersey by club president Colin Baldwin who along with club members Ian Bailey and Mike Lloyd, Merseyrail colleagues Kevin and Tony and Roland from the Wirral Cycle Group escorted Andy back to Southport.
Rather than taking things easy Andy is all ready looking to his next adventure. However his next cycling activity will definitely be a lot shorter as he says he’s riding the Boxing Day 6 mile time trail!
