Fastest SCC went to Ken Addison, Fastest Lady was Maggi Biggs, who pipped Carole James by 1 second!

Rob Rix romped off with the overall Handicap award — I guess he’s been getting some sneaky training miles in since his last ‘counting’ PB in 2018.

We had 111 entries, and 73 finishers with ages ranging from 14 to 88.

4 riders DNF, and there were 34 DNS – many with apologies

All Prizewinners will receive a permanent engraved trophy or medal, plus a voucher provided by the event sponsor CCN Sport UK

( Note 1 rider 1 prize rule applies except for Team awards and Course Records

Conditions were good, with a light NW breeze and dry roads.

A number of course records were broken with many other riders achieving PB’s despite the breeze not being in the most helpful direction

5 riders managed sub 21 minute rides, and a total of 40 riders did sub 24 minute rides.

Fastest Ride – and new course record (by 1 second) went to Alex Royle of Manchester Bicycle Club with a 19.43

2nd overall and fastest Espoir was Conor McKinnon of Dolan Ellesse RT with new Espoir course record of 20.09

Fastest Lady was Deborah Moss – Team Merlin with a 22.35

Fastest Junior was Adam Tattersall of Innovation Racing with a 21.21

Fastest Juvenile male was Reuben Corlett  of Birkenhead North End CC with a 23.26 ( Course Record)

Juvenile Female was Evelyn Field of Liverpool Century Cycling Academy with a 25.08 (Course Record)

Feedback from competitors was very complimentary towards SCC.  Many said it was the friendliest and best marshalled Open they’ve ridden for years.

I’d like to congratulate all of the riders who took part and a massive vote of thanks to the management of Mere Brow Village Hall for the continued use of their facilities for the event HQ and also to the huge team of Southport CC members (and families) who gave up their bank holiday Saturday evening to make the event a great success. There are almost too many to name, but you all know who you are.
