Evening Time Trial Series

The evening TT’s are now under way on the new D33/10 course.  Full results are in the TT results section.

The first event of the season saw 10 SCC members face the starter in cool but otherwise ideal conditions.  Fastest SCC rider ( and second on the night) with a PB of 22.36 was Tom Williams, whilst Phil Warburton of Liverpool Phoenix was fastest (and new course record holder) with a time of 22.07.  The record is unlikely to last too long as SCC member Simon Deeley arrived too late to sign on, and recorded an unofficial time (and Strava KOM) of 20.36 — beating his previous best unofficial run on the course by over a minute!

The general consensus from riders and marshals is that the course works well, and has fewer potential safety issues than the old course.  The road surface is better, sight lines are excellent, and given ideal weather and traffic conditions, the course will be very quick indeed.

From an organisation viewpoint the new event HQ at Windgates Business Park works well, with plenty of available parking.

The course can be safely marshalled with 2 marshals at both Banks and Mere Brow roundabouts – however we will always be better off with 3 at each R/A.  Volunteers are always welcomed!

There was a slight issue with radio communication – from the Finish to the HQ – however reception was good between the finish, Banks and Mere Brow R/As — we will check which handsets work best in the various locations.

Placing the recommended signage on the course has proved to be time consuming for Dave Ritchie — any extra help that can be given in placing signs before the event and picking them up afterwards will be appreciated.

Thanks again to everyone who took part or helped out.
