2021 Time Trial Season
ALL COMPETITORS MUST HAVE A WORKING REAR RED LIGHT FIXED TO THEIR MACHINE ( constant or flashing mode). CTT REG 14(i)
THIS YEAR DUE TO THE COVID RESTRICTIONS WE WILL WILL HAVE TO FOLLOW THE CURRENT CTT GUIDELINES REGARDING THE CONDUCT OF EVENTS.
From April to September the club promotes a series of time trials on Thursday evenings – held under CTT Rules and regulations. Most events are 10 miles, but the events on the last Thursdays in May, June and July are over a 25 mile distance. Points are awarded for each event, and a number of prizes are awarded based upon performances over the series. Only SCC members are eligible for the points competition. However should a rider from any club break the course record, then they will be awarded a special medal. (3 categories Male, Female and Junior.)
We also have an ‘Open’ 10 Mile Time trial on Saturday 29th May.
The success of the series of events ultimately depends upon the pool of dedicated volunteer officials and course marshals. From time to time additional volunteers are required to provide ‘holiday’ and ‘sickness’ cover — or even to permit some of the regular officials to compete themselves! Anyone wanting to help should contact the TT secretary.
The minimum age for competitors is 12 years, but all under 18’s must have Parental Consent. The required form can be downloaded from here, or get a copy at the Club.
Entry fees for each event are £5.00 per rider ( including CTT levy). To encourage younger riders, Southport CC U18 riders will pay no fee
The 10 mile events use the D33/10 course along the A565 between Tarleton and Banks, and the 25 Mile events use the existing D25/5 course Tarleton, Rufford, Mere Brow, Crossens, Mere Brow, Rufford and Tarleton.
The first event is on Thursday 15th April. Signing on will start at 6.00.pm. Signing closes at 6.45pm. First rider off 7.01pm
A Pre Season Briefing for officials and marshals will take place at the Event HQ at Mere Brow Village Hall car park on Thursday 8th April at 6.30 pm
Guidance for Marshals and checkers is here : CTT GN 11 Marshals Checkers
Details of the 10 mile course is here D33-10 notes
The risk assessment for the 25 mile course is here: Risk Assess 25 course
The events are open to all comers – and have proved popular with riders from many other clubs in the region. The Events are also designated as ‘Try It Out’ events, where unattached riders can enter up to 3 events – after which time they are expected to join a club (preferably Southport CC) to continue riding.
Event HQ for all evening events is Mere Brow Village Hall – The Gravel, Mere Brow. Signing on will take place in the corner of the newly decked area at the rear of the hall adjacent to the bowling green. There is an excellent large car park, and there are also toilet facilities. Officials and competitors are also welcome to visit the bar for refreshments afterwards. Please note – when the bowling green is being used for competitions, do not park vehicles in the bays adjacent to the Bowling Green – they are to be kept clear for the use of the bowlers. Alternative parking is available a few hundred metres away in the blocked off section of Moss Hey Lane.

Signing on will start at 5.45.pm. Signing closes at 5.45pm. First rider off 6:45pm
A Pre Season Briefing for officials and marshals will take place at the Event HQ at Mere Brow Village Hall car park on Thursday 8th April at 6.30 pm
